Morning bomb threat clears Yough high school
An early-morning bomb threat at Yough Senior High School led to a three-hour evacuation Monday.
Superintendent Denise Shipe said the students were moved out of the building at approximately 7:40 a.m. They walked to the nearby stadium, where water was available and buses were staged to provide heat for students who were cold, she said.
State police, firefighters and bomb sniffing dogs searched the building. In addition, emergency medical personnel were at the scene, Shipe said.
Students returned to classes at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Shipe declined to comment on the threat and would not disclose whether it came through a telephone call, e-mail or some other source.
"It's still under investigation," she said.
The last bomb threat on the building was on Oct. 18, 2007.
