An early morning motorcycle wreck in Manchester killed the North Side man who had just bought the bike and his sister who was riding with him.

James Wells, 33, died at the scene of the crash on Chateau Street beneath Route 65 about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Allegheny County Coroner's Office said he died from head injuries.

Monica Wells, 31, also of the North Side, died shortly after 3 a.m. at Allegheny General Hospital, North Side, the coroner's office said.

Investigators said Monica Wells may have fallen off the motorcycle when it rounded a curve below the highway, and that James Wells then crashed into a concrete bridge support. The Pittsburgh police accident investigation team was trying to reconstruct the wreck.

Investigators said James Wells had just gotten his motorcycle operator's license this month, and the new motorcycle was delivered to him on Tuesday.

Police found two helmets at the scene of the wreck, but had not determined whether the victims were wearing them.
