The Mount Pleasant Service Unit of the Salvation Army will receive applications for Christmas food packages and children's toys at the following places and times:
Applicants must show proof of residence in one of the following zip code areas: 15666, 15610, 15621, 15664, 15674, 14689 and 15685. Verification of low income will be required, such as public assistance records, Social Security, pension receipts or SSI.

Connellsville Township supervisors have announced the township's garbage contractor has arranged an additional pickup date for recyclable materials in October for township residents.
Waste Management will pick up recycles in the township on Oct. 30 and then return to the regular schedule in November.
