Mt. Pleasant Borough Council heard complaints at a meeting this week, and the issues presented were not a good sign.
Or rather, the residents' gripes were about signs that they wanted to have changed.
Patience Barnes said she isn't satisfied that street department employees moved a sign just a short distance from its original location on Vine Street.
She previously had asked council to relocate a 'watch children' warning that she claimed was an added obstruction to a utility pole and her hedges.
'I don't want the sign off the street,' Barnes said.
She suggested that it be placed where it would be less of an obstruction and where traffic would encounter it sooner.
James P. Rega said he would like to see 'one-way' signs on Coppula Drive from Church Street facing north. He told council that the intersection was dangerous because of poor visibility.
Council President Steven Fontanazza pointed out that making the street one way would 'put a burden on the residents' who use Coppula Drive to avoid traffic congestion.
'If there's a safety issue there, we'll study it and make a recommendation,' Councilman Gene Rosky said.
Karole Hebenthal of North Shupe Street asked council to install no-parking signs in front of a nearby pizza shop. She claims that customers block the alley, especially on Fridays and Saturdays.
Council will refer that information to the police department.
In personnel matters, council appointed Dawn Marie Andrews to fill Mark Krystiniak's unexpired term on the zoning board.
John Hasbrook was hired as a janitor, at the rate of $6 per hour.
In other business, council awarded a three-year contract to Greenridge Waste Service for sludge removal from the sewage treatment facility. The cost will be $19 per ton and $120 per roll-off.
