A return to warm weather means the busy part of construction season is nearly upon us.
PennDOT has announced local construction updates, and Delmont has announced what roads officials hope to include in their 2016 paving program.
PennDOT is milling and resurfacing:
• Mellon/Manor Road (State Route 4023) in Murrysville and Penn Township.
• Murrysville/Trafford Road (SR 4026) in Penn Township.
• Saltsburg Road (SR 4056) to Golden Mile Highway in Murrysville.
• Golden Mile Highway beginning at Saltsburg Road in Murrysville.
The work is expected to be completed this month, and flaggers will direct traffic as needed between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
In addition, Route 366 between Logan's Ferry Road and Greensburg Road will be milled and resurfaced, a project that will run through Upper and Lower Burrell, New Kensington, Plum and Murrysville. It will also include new guardrails, signage and pavement markings, drainage upgrades and washout repairs.
It is expected to be complete in August.
Delmont paving program
Delmont engineer Gary Baird updated council earlier this month on the roads proposed for the 2016 paving program. They include:
• About 45,000 lineal feet of crack sealing.
• Crest Drive, from Greensburg Street to Suncrest Drive.
• Hart Alley, from Lindsey Lane to Freeport Street.
• Widening of the Rose Court North cul-de-sac.
• Kunkle Alley, from Church Street to its terminus.
• Freeport Road, from Route 66 to the municipal line. This project will be shared with the municipality of Murrysville.
• Possible additional alternatives include East Pittsburgh Street from Overly Street to the borough line, and Delmont Avenue from Fairview Drive to East Pittsburgh Street.
