The stretch of Murrysville/Trafford Road that crosses over the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Penn Township will close to traffic beginning at 7 a.m. Monday.

The road will close for bridge repair work. The deck will be removed and replaced with a new bridge deck. The steel superstructure will be raised, repaired and painted. Construction is scheduled for completion this fall.

Traffic normally using this section of Trafford Road (which turns into Murrysville Road at the southern end of the project) will be detoured via Murrysville Road, Route 130, Route 48, Route 22 and back onto Trafford Road. Signs will be posted along the detour route.

According to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, a daily average of 2,933 vehicle use the bridge.
