U.S. Rep. John Murtha has been named 'Man of the Year' by the Catholic War Veterans at the organization's annual state convention.

'I'm honored to receive such a distinguished award from the Catholic War Veterans because I have so much respect for the work that the CWV does in behalf of the men and women who have served this great nation,' said Murtha.

Frank Muzika, commander of Fr. Thomas J. Dunn Post 1669, the host for the convention, said Murtha had been selected for the award because of his relentless efforts in behalf of the nation's veterans.

Murtha, a Vietnam veteran who retired from the Marine Corps Reserves in 1990, serves as ranking member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee in Congress.
