Much of rural North Dakota is abuzz over a mysterious hog that's grown to 1,300 pounds eating the same diet as his siblings, the Minot Daily News reports.

The swine, who has never been named, is owned by Bernard and Jean Meyer of Harlow, who measured him at 7 feet, 8 inches long.

To dispel any notion the animal is a glutton, Meyer said the porker gets about the same amount of feed each day as the 10 other pigs on the farm.

Meyer, who at one point had 1,000 head along with some angus cattle, said despite his size, this pig should live to about 5 years old or more and Meyer intends to keep him healthy.

Meyer speculated there hasn't been this much excitement about a hog since Arnold Ziffel debuted in the 1965 CBS sitcom "Green Acres," and told the newspaper he's thinking of getting his barnyard buddy into show business too.

Hogs have been known to reach 1,300 pounds in weight, according to Cornell University Extension, but market weight is usually one-fourth the build of Meyer's hog.
