A North Huntingdon Township convenience store, the target of a strong-arm robbery a month ago, was hit again early Wednesday morning. Township police Chief Charles Henaghan said yesterday officers were called shortly after midnight to the scene of a robbery at the Sunoco A Plus at the intersection of Route 30 and Colonial Manor Road. A man reportedly waited until two customers left the convenience store, Henaghan said, and then asked the male clerk for cigarettes. When the clerk asked the suspect for identification, he fumbled in his pockets momentarily, then grabbed the clerk by the tie and demanded money. Henaghan said the clerk tried to close the bulletproof glass, but the suspect was able to reach through the window and remove an undetermined amount of money. As the suspect was leaving the store, he showed the clerk a penknife . The man reportedly entered the store from the east side, but ran toward the west. The clerk was not injured. “He was shaken up,” Henaghan said. The robber is described as white, 6 feet tall, clean-shaven, with a thin build, in his early to mid-20s. He had short, dark hair and wore a brown shirt, dark cargo-style pants, a ball cap and white tennis shoes. Police have a surveillance tape of the robbery, which clearly shows the suspect’s face. Anyone with information about the robbery should contact township police at 724-863-8800.
