Officials are looking into strengthening a barbed-wire fence at Los Angeles International Airport that was easily scaled by a naked man earlier in the week.

The Canadian man, who apparently had mental issues, was able to get on to the runway at LAX Monday and climb inside the wheel well of a Qantas Boeing 747.

KTLA-TV, Los Angeles, said firefighters talked the man off of his perch and he was taken into custody.

Earlier, the suspect had tried to buy a ticket on a Qantas flight using only a receipt from a credit card.

LAX is considered to be a potential terrorist target and has been under tight security since before Sept. 11, 2001.
