The family of a slain Utah woman has stripped her married name from her gravestone while her husband awaits trial for her death.

Lori Hacking's last name was removed from the stone by her parents and now carries her maiden name, Soares.

The change was made after Lori's husband, Mark Hacking, pleaded innocent to murder last summer, KSL-TV, Salt Lake City, said Monday. Hacking is awaiting trial next spring on charges he killed his wife in their apartment, then dumped the body in a trash bin.

Authorities believe Hacking killed his wife after he made up a story about being accepted at medical school in North Carolina. He reported his wife had disappeared while jogging.

Salt Lake City police found Lori's remains in October after several weeks of digging.
