ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson could miss a maximum of two weeks after an MRI exam Tuesday showed a torn muscle in his rib cage.

Nelson played just three minutes of Monday night's 109-102 win over Atlanta before leaving.

The injury could be a significant blow to the Magic, who are two games in back of Philadelphia for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with just 12 games left.

Nelson filled in as the Magic's starting point guard under the last few weeks of coach Johnny Davis' tenure before being sent back to the bench under new coach Chris Jent, who favors Steve Francis at the point.

In his rookie season, Nelson is averaging 8.1 points and 2.9 assists in 69 games for Orlando, including 14 starts.
