Former Pittsburgh Deputy Mayor Sal Sirabella has been hired as manager of Collier Township.

Sirabella, 62, of Brookline will take over a post that has been vacant since Gary Vituccio resigned in April.

“I was a township commissioner in Collier several years ago. It is an outstanding community that over the last 20 years has grown. Plus it was an opportunity for me to get back into municipal government,” Sirabella said.

He served as Pittsburgh deputy mayor and chief operating officer from 1994-2002, and chief of staff for the lieutenant governor’s office from 2003-08. From then until January, he was director of the governor’s Office of Public Liaison.

Collier commissioners voted 5-0 on Wednesday to hire Sirabella, who will be paid $68,500 annually.
