Armstrong County Dialysis Center, a new outpatient treatment facility, recently opened to serve patients suffering from chronic kidney disease.
According to Dr. C. Ross Betts, medical director and a kidney disease specialist who has been serving patients in the western Pennsylvania area for more than 14 years, “this new facility offers patients in Armstrong County and its surrounding areas, who need life-sustaining dialysis treatment, greater choice than was previously available. Patients typically travel to their facility three times every week. We are pleased that the clinic is able to provide hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis to people who require these services.”
Armstrong County Dialysis Center is a brand new facility with state-of-the-art equipment, he said.
“Every patient will be welcome in this new facility and treated with courtesy and respect from our experienced staff. We will make every patient's treatment session as comfortable as possible,” said Betts. “We are very glad to have the facility located in the new office park next to Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. The dialysis unit is located at 85 Glade Drive.
He explained that dialysis is the process of cleaning wastes from the blood artificially when a person's kidneys no longer adequately function. Dialysis treatment started as a temporary therapy in the 1940's and became available for long-term therapy in the 1960's. Patients requiring dialysis treatment may continue normal activities for many years.
Armstrong County Dialysis Center was established through the combined efforts of Dr. Betts, Dr. Iqbal, other people living in the local area and a management team from American Renal Associates Inc. Members of this team have been developing and operating dialysis facilities throughout the United States for more than 20 years.
