PITTSBURGH: It's a Democrat!
Errin Aftanas, the wife of New Kensington Councilman Doug Aftanas, delivered a baby boy at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh.
The boy, Benjamin, weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces and was 21 inches long, his mother said.
"Everybody is doing fine," Errin beamed.
Doug Aftanas, a Democrat, was the unofficial winner of Tuesday's election.
While he sweated election returns he also was sweating the impending birth of his son.
Aftanas will serve his first full term in office after being appointed to the position in January.
Veteran Councilman Don Bowers also will serve another term, beating Republican Tim Dimaio for the other vacancy on council.
