A Beaver County man was charged today with attempted homicide and numerous other charges in the shooting of a guest in his home the previous day, police said.

Chessidy "Chase" Hamilton, 21, of New Sewickley, was arrested at 11 p.m. Sunday in Conway. He is in the Beaver County Jail in lieu of $500,000 cash bond and also is charged with aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, hindering apprehension or prosecution and reckless endangerment.

New Sewickley police Assistant Chief Gail Patti said Hamilton shot Mary Palm in the back shortly before 9:30 a.m. Sunday after Palm and Hamilton's girlfriend, Jennifer Burns, argued.

Hamilton fled his trailer home in the 100 block of Mandy Lane after the shooting, Patti said. Palm, 27, also of New Sewickley, was taken by helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital, North Side, where she underwent surgery, Patti said.

Police found a .25-caliber handgun they believe was used in the shooting along railroad tracks in Freedom, he said.
