Showtime plans a new spin on the terrorism theme with a Muslim FBI agent going after terrorists.
The New York Times reports "Sleeper Cell" is scheduled to premier later this year on the cable network. The show's hero, Darwyn, is an undercover agent working with an Islamic terrorist cell in California.
Three members of the production team are Muslims. The Times says their participation means Darwyn's religious observances and his struggle to reconcile his religious beliefs with his life are realistic.
The terrorists are also treated as embedded in American life, throwing birthday parties for their kids when they are not trying to harm the United States.
