• The Pittsburgh Steelers are considering adding up to 4,000 south end-zone seats to the 65,000-seat Heinz Field. That’s good news for fans who find tickets hard to come by. But let’s hope there’s even better news for taxpayers and that these seats are paid for privatel y. After all, if the demand for these new seats is as high as the Steelers say it is — and we have no doubt that it is — the Steelers should quickly reap the rewards of their investment.

• Speaking of the Steelers, they need a win Sunday in Cleveland to best control their playoff destiny. A win will make Pittsburgh the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs and earn the Black and Gold a first-round bye. But a loss will send Pittsburgh into the hunt as a wild-card team. And though the Steelers have had their successes that way, the Browns are no stranger to the spoiler game. All together now: Don’t blow it! (Ha! You thought you were going to read “Here we go!”)

• The David L. Lawrence Convention Center’s operating losses are about double what was projected when the white elephant was built. As charades go, this is a whopper. The convention center “business model” — heavily discounting or forgiving center rent to attract conventions and then rationalizing that you make up the difference with attendee spending in the community — is bogus. It’s time to privatize the convention center.
