The Armstrong County Historical Museum, 300 N. McKean St., Kittanning will open for the 2003 season from noon to 4 p.m. April 6. The museum will be open every Wednesday and every first Sunday of the month. Private tours may be scheduled by calling 724-548-5707 for information.
The Ways and Means Committee will hold the annual spring dinner at 6 p.m. April 24. The entree will be Swiss steak at a cost of $10 per person. The dinner will be held at the Grace Presbyterian Church on North Jefferson, Kittanning. The dining hall is handicap accessible. Laura Wingard-Plank will speak on Indian Lore following the dinner. Tastefully Simple Bingo will be held at 2 p.m. May 10 at the museum. The cost is $3. Advance tickets will be sold since this is a limited seating activity. All proceeds made from this year's activities will be put into the society's roofing fund. Anyone who cannot attend these events, a donation may be sent to PO Box 735, Kittanning, Pa. 16201. Mark on checks "roof fund." There is a campaign to buy shingles. A bundle of shingles will cost $15 and a square of shingles costs $45. Any amount donated may be put towards the labor.
The next meeting of the Mid-Armstrong Computer Club (MACC) will be held at 7 p.m. April 9 Grace Presbyterian Church, corner of North Jefferson and Arch streets, Kittanning.
The Newcomers Club welcomes women new to Armstrong County. The Armstrong County Newcomers Club lets women who have moved to the area meet other women through various social events such as shopping excursions, tourist outings, dinner outings as well as monthly meetings. New members are welcome. The next meeting will be held at the home of Brandy Muth at 7 p.m. April 8. This meeting will feature a discussion of summer outings. The Ford City Marching Band Boosters will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Room 200 at the high school. Topics to be discussed are final trip information, Heritage Days and nominations for officers and concession stand.

The next meeting of the Butler County Civil War Roundtable will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Butler YWCA. John Deppen of State College will present his first-person dramatic portrayal of General Winfield Scott Hancock. General Hancock was one of the main characters featured in the movie Gettysburg. Deppen is president of the Susquehanna Civil War Round Table in central Pennsylvania. He writes historical columns and features for his local newspaper, The Daily Item and contributes book reviews to The Civil War News. He received a master of arts in military studies with honors in Civil War Studies from American Military University in 2000. He has been making appearances as Major General Winfield Scott Hancock since 1997.

Senior Fellowship will be held at St. Paul Congregational Church at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday. The first fellowship will be a covered dish. Hot sandwiches will be provided. The Rural Valley Helping Hand Center is holding a $2 bag sale until April 19 with the regular hours. On April 10 and 17 the hours will be extended to 6:30 p.m. Due to overstocked shelves no donations will be accepted until May 1.
The Manor Township Joint Municipal Authority will hold a public informational meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Manor Township fire hall to discuss the upcoming sewer system expansion project. All residents in the Birch Haven, Indian Hills, Mervis, Green Brae, Bloom and Wray Plans and the businesses along Route 422 in Manor Township are welcome.
The Kittanning Area Woman's Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the basement of St. Luke's United Church of Christ. Members are reminded to bring items for the silent auction to be held. Reservations will be taken for the May luncheon for members and friends. Election of officers will be held. The social committee will be Ruby Rugini, Sara Jane Reitler and Therese Tedeski.

St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Kittanning, will host a Lenten dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 11 in the parish hall located at 361 N. Jefferson St., Kittanning. The dinners include pierogi, haluski, potato pancakes, applesauce, dessert and beverage. The cost is adults, $5 and children, $3. Take out orders will be available.
