Frazier schools receive awards
Superintendent Dr. Frederick Smeigh has announced that the Frazier School District has received $44,115 in performance and effort-related awards.
Central Elementary School received the $25,000 Governor's Achievement Award, earned by only nine schools in the state. The award is given to recognize and provide further incentive to schools that continue to improve on the PSSA for three consecutive years. In addition, Central received $9,618 for an overall gain of 100 points in the combined reading and mathematics baseline score in fifth grade.
Frazier Middle School earned a $4,867 Effort Award for increasing student attendance by .82 percent in the 2000-2001 school year.
Frazier High School earned a $9,630 Effort Award for increasing student attendance by 1.67 percent in the 2000-2001 school year.
Drug case hearing postponed
A preliminary hearing for Roger Dale Hall, 57, of Dunbar, was continued Dec. 11 at his attorney's request. Hall is charged with two counts of drug possession and one count each of receiving stolen property and banking access device fraud stemming from an Aug. 26 incident.
Hall remains incarcerated in Fayette County Prison after failing to post $25,000 straight cash bond set by District Justice Dwight Shaner. No date has been set for the hearing.
