Pifer was elected chairman of the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society Board of Trustees. He will assume office Jan. 1. The foundation provides educational and philanthropic programs and services for physicians and medical students and public health initiatives for Pennsylvania communities.
Undergraduate degree from Bethany College in 1961; doctor of medicine degree from Temple University Medical School in 1965.
During his six years on the foundation board, Pifer has served in numerous volunteer positions, including chairman of the development committee. For the past 11 years, he has co-hosted KDKA’s “Medical Frontiers,” a radio talk show addressing current medical issues.
“I would like to increase awareness within the medical and general community about the foundation and its good works. There are a number of important missions at the foundation, such as the physicians’ health programs and the educational programs.”
