Education: A trained paramedic, he has a bachelor of science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in emergency medical services.

Occupation: He is the EMS coordinator, prehospital and emergency care service at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in Oakland. He also is an adjunct professor at the Emergency Medicine Program School of Health and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Pittsburgh.

Noteworthy: He is the recipient of the Amanda E. Wertz Memorial Emergency Medical Services for Children Award. The award is given to an EMS provider who has made a difference in the lives of children in Pennsylvania. The award is given in memory of Amanda E. Wertz, who died suddenly in 2001 at the age of 14. Her parents, Patrick and Elizabeth Wertz, volunteered as paramedics for many years and were active in EMS activities.
