Noteworthy: In recognition of his commitment to address in-school bullying and harassment as obstacles to success for all students, the Pittsburgh chapter of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network honored Lesgold with its "Power of One" award June 13. A few years ago, he launched a series of workshops at Pitt to help prospective teachers learn how to address peer cruelty among their students.
Quote: "The students preparing to be teachers are themselves very concerned about peer cruelty and they want more training and were asking for it, but we also did it because it is right. Every student has the right to go to school and concentrate on their work and not fear being bullied by anyone."
