Background: A Michigan native, Pfeifer has been a special agent for the Internal Revenue Service since 1985 and has lived in Pittsburgh for 20 years.

Noteworthy: Pfeifer is one of the recipients of the 2009 Law Enforcement Agency Director's Award. She worked with the Drug Enforcement Administration, FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office to investigate people who manufacture and sell products designed to undermine federally mandated drug tests.
