Age: 92

Residence: Ross

Family: Four children, eight grandchildren

Education: Medical degree from Washington University, St. Louis

Occupation: Interventional cardiologist at Allegheny General Hospital

Background: Fisher joined the staff of Allegheny General Hospital's Division of Cardiology in 1952. He was named director of the Catheterization Laboratory in 1960 and chief of the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases in 1964, a position he held until 1984. Fisher continues to report to work daily, serving as a member of the senior staff and regularly participating in resident teaching conferences.

Noteworthy: Fisher recently received the Peter J. Safar Pulse of Pittsburgh Award from the American Heart Association. The award is named for the late professor of resuscitation medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, who became known as the father of CPR.

Quote: "Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 cause of death in both men and women. We need to be able to predict who is going to have a heart attack before they drop on the sidewalk or even show any obvious symptoms. That could incentivize people to change their dietary or exercise habits."
