Age: 68

Residence: Zelienople

Occupation: President and CEO of Berner International Corp., an air curtain manufacturer in New Castle

Education: Berner received her bachelor's degree in political science from Hollins College in Roanoke, Va., in 1964 and a master's degree in English in 1966 and a master's degree in social psychology in 1982 from the University of Pittsburgh.

Background: Berner has owned and led Berner International Corp. since her husband, Christian Berner, died in 1984.

Noteworthy: Berner was appointed last month to the Women Impacting Public Policy Executive Advisory Board, and last week to its board of directors and Health Care Advisory Board. WIPP is a nonprofit, national nonpartisan group with more than a half-million members that advocates for and on behalf of women and minorities in business.

Quote: "A few years ago, I went down to one of WIPP's first national meetings in Washington, D.C., because I was looking for a balanced organization, one that was not ideological, but fact-finding and problem-solving. WIPP is very much that, and the organization has fought hard to sustain nonpartisanship. I am very pleased to have been asked to take an even more active role in WIPP's work representing women business owners in Washington, D.C."
