Background: Originally from Ghana, Yamba has been a member of Cal U's faculty since 1989 and is past chair of the Department of History and Political Science. In May 2002, Yamba received the Faculty Professional Development Committee Merit Award for Research. In June, he received the President's Faculty Award for Service.

Notable: This month, Yamba was named interim dean of Cal U's College of Liberal Arts. He replaces Michael Hummel, who returned to the classroom.
