The head of Florida's Broward County schools doesn't see a need for a video on diversity with such characters as Kermit the Frog and SpongeBob SquarePants.

"We already have lessons about diversity in our curriculum," said Superintendent Frank Till. "I don't see where (the video) fits with what we've already got," the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

The Anti-Defamation League and gay and lesbian groups have complained about the decision.

The school district was one of only a handful that rejected the "We are Family" video, which the ADL distributed across the country this year, the report said.

Broward's Diversity Committee turned it down after members worried that it would teach kids to be friendly to strangers. One member also said he thought the video would encourage kids to reveal whether they were being raised by same-sex couples, the report said.
