Britain’s Cambridge University has banned students from wearing national costumes during graduation ceremonies. The Scotsman reported that the banned attire includes kilts, the plaid wraparound skirts traditionally worn by Scotsmen. A spokesman for the university told the newspaper that students should be on a equal footing during the ceremony in the Senate House since all of them become members of the university. That means white tie and pants for men and a dark dress or skirted suit for women. © Copyright 2005 by United Press International
