No one was at home when a fire broke out at 225 First St. in Yatesboro on Thanksgiving.

No one was home when a fire tore through a Yatesboro residence at 225 First Street on Thanksgiving evening, causing extensive damage throughout the two-story interior.

The fire started between 6:30 and 7 p.m. while the homeowners, Michael and Brooke Bish, were having dinner at a family member’s home, Chief Kevin Nelson of the Rural Valley fire department said.

“It’s pretty bad inside,” Nelson said. “There is severe interior damage all through the house. The fire ran from the basement clear up to the attic.”

State police fire marshals are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

The home was insured, Nelson said.

Dayton and Plumville fire departments assisted at the scene.
