At the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania statewide convention, members called on the state General Assembly to defeat HB 934, which would require all Pennsylvania voters to show government-issued photo ID before they vote.
The League believes voting is a fundamental citizen right that must be guaranteed. Requiring people to provide a government-issued photo ID will disenfranchise many people. It would also be costly for the state to provide state-issued photo ID and costly to enforce for voter education. It would slow down voting on Election Day.
The Pennsylvania Association of County Commissioners has researched voting practices and has found no evidence of voter fraud warranting voter photo ID to correct.
