No real ‘poor’

The news story " Poor in Western Pennsylvania worse off " (Sept. 22 and TribLIVE.com) is really too much. There are no "poor" in this country.

I live in the poorest county in Pennsylvania, Fayette. I drove around and did not see one person on the side of the road, starving.

The idiots who write such stories should go where I have gone and look around. Haiti, China, India, etc. -- these are poor people.

I am 67. I was poor when I grew up although I didn't know I was. I was the youngest of nine children. My father died when I was 3 and my mother had to work to support us, but we never went hungry.
