No students were on a school bus that was involved in an accident Wednesday morning after completing its Quaker Valley School District route.

District spokeswoman Mary Fazio said the driver of the bus had a minor injury to his foot and was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, North Side, for observation.

The accident occurred along Little Sewickley Creek Road, near Walker Park, in Leet Township.

Leet police Chief Bill Wanto said the accident totaled the bus.

"He swerved to miss hitting a deer and kind of lost control, went left of center and into a tree," Wanto said. "He had to be extricated from the bus."

Fazio said the driver, whose name was not released, already had dropped off students at Quaker Valley High School in Leetsdale.
