Britain's Grammy Award-winning Gorillaz, has had to scrap its plans for a world tour because of the high cost of creating the animated musicians.
The "virtual" band -- Murdoc, 2-D, Russel and Noodle -- appeared with Madonna on the Feb. 6 Grammy Awards broadcast and went on to chalk up an award for best pop collaboration with vocals.
Jamie Hewlett, who started the Gorillaz with Blur's Damon Albarn, told Contactmusic.com they found out it would cost more than $1.5 million to take the cartoon band on tour.
"We're just not gonna be able to do a proper tour," Hewlett said. "We've tried really hard to work out a way but the costs would be just astronomical."
