Lebanese Information Minister Elie Firzli says changing the U.S. secretary of state won't lead to any modification in Washington's Middle East policy.

"The matter in America is not that of individuals or persons but there is a static strategy," Firzli told a local Beirut radio Tuesday.

He was commenting on the resignation of Secretary of State Colin Powell and his possible replacement by Condoleezza Rice, the national security adviser.

"Powell and Rice are both figures of the same U.S. administration and there will be no strategic changes or modification of U.S. policy in our region," Firzli said.
