Nobody injured in Connellsville house fire

Nobody was in the house at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

Area firefighters responded to a house fire 10:13 a.m. Tuesday at 114 N. Alley in Connellsville after a call came from witnesses saying smoke was coming from its roof.

New Haven Hose Company Volunteer Fire Department Chief Bob Topper said the house was under renovation when workers left a heater in the basement too close to scrap wood and started the accidental fire.

Nobody was in the house at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Topper said the fire caused damage to the basement stairwell, the floor between the basement and the first floor, the stairwell to the second floor, and the rafters on the second floor.

Along with New Haven VFD, Connellsville Township VFD, Fayette EMS and Connellsville Police responded. Crews were on the scene until approximately 11:40 a.m.
