Wardrobe essentials for spring

Holli Rogers is the buying director for the online boutique net-a-porter.com . She says this spring there is "a move toward femininity and a shift away from the fierce aesthetic of recent seasons." These are the things on her shopping list, offered in Allure magazine:

Bright accessories: "I love the bursts of color that punctuated the collections. A lot of designers used color blocking to great effect, but you can just nod to the trend with a vivid accessory. My favorites are Pierre Hardy wedges, which have a flash of neon, and Burberry's lime-green belt."'

A white blazer: "I particularly love Stella McCartney's silk linen blazers -- worn with preppy polo shirts, they look crisp and clean."

High-waisted pants: "The runway shows had lots of '70s references, and high-waisted, wide-leg pants will be the biggest trend this spring. The shape can be worn with a top that has few frills to get the Summer of Love feeling."

A diaphanous dress: "There was a feeling of lightness at the shows, with dresses made from silk, satin or sheer cotton that were soft and romantic. Ralph Lauren, Chloe, and Thakoon did this expertly."

A perfect white T-shirt: "I've got my eye on the one that Olivier Theyskens designed for Theory. It's loose, but not baggy, and worn with indigo-flared jeans, it will see me through to summer."
