North Versailles employees could get paid in about 10 days if an audit of township finances is completed quickly, officials said Friday.
Municipal employees were told this week the township could not meet its payroll for eight to 10 weeks because a $700,000 tax anticipation loan was not received. Commissioner Kash Snyder, the board president, said the auditor will work evenings and weekends to review records and finish the job.
The audit might be complicated by the abrupt resignation of the township secretary Friday, but all the municipal records were well-kept, Snyder said. Money from yearly garbage bills could pay employees if creditors allow it, he said.
Police will continue to work, Chief James Comunale said.
