Norwin Aqua Club results

The Norwin Aqua Club stayed busy through June and July by sending swimmers to multiple summer meets around the area.

Age Group Open

Five Norwin swimmers earned top-three finishes in the Allegheny Mountain Swimming Age Group Open at the Olympic Swim &Health Club in Penn Hills on June 9 and 10.

Kathryn Painter won two events - the 200-yard individual medley and the 200 breaststroke - while placing second in the 100 and 200 butterfly and third in the 100 backstroke.

Eric Booth won the 200 breast and placed second in the 100 breast, while he was third in three other events - the 50 and 100 freestyle and the 200 IM.

Hannah Rusinko also won an event, the 800 free, and she placed third in the 1,500 free.

Also placing were Breanna Ford, who was second in the 100 back and third in the 50 back, and Mark Patterson, who was third in the 200 back.

vs. Hempfield

The team fell at home against Hempfield, 555-432, in a Chestnut Ridge meet on June 12.

Winning boys events were Seth Baiardi in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 IM; Alexander Ivory in the 50 breast; John Mamas in the 50 fly and 50 breast; Mark Patterson in the 100 free; and Carson Shipley in the 50 back and 50 free.

Winning girls events were Jessica Cochran in the 50 breast, 100 fly and 200 IM; Teresa Czajkowski in the 50 back; Ella Driggers in the 25 free, 50 free and 25 back; Emilie Gniewkowski in the 50 free; Courteney Hubert in the 200 free; Kristina Juart in the 50 free; Allison Plassio in the 50 breast; Hannah Rusinko in the 100 free; and Eliza Watson in the 100 IM.

The team also got wins from the 9- and 10-year-old medley relay of Juart, Czajkowski, Plassio and Baiardi; the 13- to 18-year-old medley relay of Patterson, Blazek, Cochran and Hubert; and the 9- and 10-year-old free relay of Jordan Kutchak, Juart, Czajkowski and Plassio.

at West Newton

The team picked up a win at West Newton on June 19.

Winning boys events were Seth Baiardi in the 50 fly and 100 IM; Spencer Blazek in the 50 free, 200 free and 100 back; Noah Gniewkowski in the 50 breast; Alexander Ivory in the 50 and 100 free; Gordon Landefeld in the 50 free, 100 free and 50 back; and Nathaniel Mehring in the 50 breast and 200 IM.

Winning girls events were Darian Baker in the 100 fly; Angela Cameron in the 200 IM and 50 fly; Jessica Cochran in the 50 and 100 free; Isabella Condie in the 50 breast; Teresa Czajkowski in the 25 breast and 25 fly; Sam-antha Fillar in the 200 free; Breanna Ford in the 50 fly, 100 back and 100 IM; Emilie Gniewkowski in the 50 back; Courteney Hubert in the 100 free, 100 breast and 200IM; Laura Kondas in the 25 free and 25 back; Shelby Krevo-kuch in the 50 free; Cath-erine Mazzei in the 50 free, 100 free and 50 back; Eliza Watson in the 50 free and 50 breast; and Kira Zyvith in the 100 free.

The team also won six relays. In the medleys, Kristy Juart, Lizzie Smeltzer, Landefeld and Alaina Gettemy won for 9- and 10-year-olds; Baylor McCullough, Watson, Emilie Gniewkowski and Ivory won for 11- and 12-year-olds; and Baker, Blazek, Cochran and Hubert won for 13- to 18-year-olds.

In the free relays, Baiardi, Juart, Jordan Kutchak and Czajkowski won for 9- and 10-year-olds; Watson, Zyvith, Ivory and Emilie Gniew-kowski won for 11- and 12-year-olds; and Cochran, Baker, Blazek and Hubert won for 13- to 18-year-olds.

vs. Latrobe

The team also swam a Chestnut Ridge meet at home against Latrobe on June 26.

Winning boys events were Spencer Blazek in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 breast; Eric Booth in the 50 fly and 50 breast; Benjamin Botkin in the 100 free; Hunter Clemens in the 200 IM; Timothy Delle Donne in the 50 free and 50 back; Gordon Landefeld in the 50 fly and 50 back; Mark Patterson in the 100 back; Carson Shipley in the 50 back and 100 free; and Elijah Wojdyla in the 100 IMand 50 fly.

Winning girls events were Randi Booth in the 25 free; Teresa Czajkowski in the 50 breast; Ella Driggers in the 25 breast; Samantha Fillar in the 50 breast and 200 IM; Mya Hanley in the 50 back, 100 free and 100 IM; Kristina Juart in the 50 back; Allison Plassio in the 50 fly, 100 free and 100 IM; and Elizabeth Smeltzer in the 50 free.

In the relays, Juart, Czajkowski, Plassio and Jordan Kutchak won the 9- and 10-year-old medley; Baylor McCullough, Eliza Watson, Gniewkowski and Shipley won the 11- and 12-year-old medley; Mary Kochis, Keeper Juart, Randi Booth and Driggers won the 8-and-under free; and Czajkowski, Kristy Juart, Landefeld and Kutchak won the 9- and 10-year-old free.

Developmental Championships

Most recently, the team sent swimmers to the 2012 Developmental Championships at Chartiers Valley High School from July 13 to 15.

Two NAC swimmers recorded top-three placings. Samantha Fillar was second in the girls 13-and-over 400 IM, and Carson Shipley was second in the 200 IM and third in the 100 free for 11- and 12-year-old boys.
