Bryant McAllister’s 36-point effort at Rhode Island vaulted him to the top of the Atlantic 10 scoring lead — and got him some attention from an NBA scout. McAllister increased his average to a conference-best 19.4 points per game, ahead of La Salle senior Steven Smith (19.0). The senior guard, who tied a school record with eight 3-pointers, also caught the eye of Dallas Mavericks scout Kevin Stacom, who played at nearby Providence and attended Wednesday’s game. McAllister is trying to become the first Duquesne player to lead the A-10 in scoring since Derrick Alston in 1994. He may need to get fouled a few more times, but freshman guard Aaron Jackson is flirting with one of the program’s top seasons at the free-throw line. Jackson is shooting 83.9 percent (26 for 31), which would rank sixth all-time and No. 1 among freshmen. But the records are based on a minimum of 50 free-throw attempts. Jackson would need 19 in the final six games. He averages 1.5 per game. Additional Information:
