The single-game ticket allotment for the season opener against Notre Dame is sold out. However, there are some seats remaining as part of full-season ticket plans. Call 800-643-7488 or order on-line at www.pittsburghpanthers.com .
The final preseason scrimmage is set for 4:15 p.m. tonight. "We'll continue to have situation work that will include live tackling, and we'll keep tackling (in practice) right on through the season," coach Dave Wannstedt said. "But as far as everything goes, 11-on-11, (tonight) will be the last one of those."
The quarterbacks will continue to wear their green (no-contact) jerseys in the scrimmage. "They're really not comfortable with the green jerseys, but we (coaches) really don't care," offensive coordinator Matt Cavanaugh said. "It'll be green until Notre Dame, then we'll put on our blue. There'll be some other green jerseys out there that night, I'd imagine."
There are no immediate plans to move either Shane Brooks or Conredge Collins to fullback. "We want to give them every opportunity to be the tailback," Wannstedt said. "Will one of them move before it's all said and done⢠Possibly. But I don't see it right now."
Tim Murphy remains at tailback/fullback, and likely will stay in that role until the depth at running back sorts itself out. "I don't think it's as much Murph as how ( Brandon ) Mason and ( LaRod ) Stephens perform," Wannstedt said.
