Notebook: Pens out of cellar
With Monday's win over the New York Rangers, the Penguins moved out of last place in the Atlantic Division into fourth with 13 points, one ahead of the New York Islanders. The Penguins enter tonight's game against Atlanta having won three of four games on their current road trip, and all three were against division opponents.
"We keep stressing that, before every game against division guys, that these are two points we can move up," defenseman Brooks Orpik said. "When it's a game against a team in your own division, it's a four-point game. Our division is so tight right now, even Philly, people thought were going to run away with it, and they haven't."
"We started to play really good in the Atlanta game after the first 10 minutes, I think, out of sheer embarrassment, maybe," Mark Recchi said. "When you're down 4-0 in the first 10 minutes at home, I think guys started to play with desperation and started to do things, and something clicked from there. You do the right things, you're going to win hockey games. For whatever reason, the guys figured it out, and we started to play good hockey since then, except for Boston (on Saturday, a 6-3 loss)."
