Weekly report
• The few anglers fishing the Allegheny River were doing surprisingly well, according to Lock 3 Bait and Tackle in Cheswick. One fisherman caught a 4.5-pound smallmouth on a minnow, and several other nice bass have been reported caught on crankbaits and tubes. Anglers have been getting walleyes up to 20 inches, too.
• Loyalhanna Creek is running low, slow and full of leaves, but anglers fishing the delayed harvest area were picking up a few trout.
• The pool at Yough Dam is very low, and there's been little fising pressure there as of late, according to a spokesman at S&S Bait and Tackle in Chalk Hill.
• The trout action was slow on Deer Creek this past week.
• Opportunities to fish at Loyalhanna Lake may get scarce, at least for boaters, as the docks at the boat launch are scheduled to be removed for the winter very soon.
• Fishermen were getting a few trout from Montour Creek.
• At Lake Arthur, anglers were getting crappies on fathead minnows, according to Ron Anderson of Appalachian Trails in Prospect. At least a half dozen have topped two pounds.
• Anglers fishing the Ohio River around the Back Channel Dam with shiners were getting walleyes this week, said Wayne Lykens of Island Firearms of Neville Island. The largest of the fish he's seen was 30 inches long and weighed nine pounds.
• Fishermen tossing fatheads and shiners were pulling a few walleyes and a few stripers from the Beaver River around New Brighton, according to Bob Bernhardy of Shooter's Place in Bridgewater.
• Very, very few fishermen have been targeting Keystone Lake in Armstrong County, but one angler out over the weekend caught a fair number of smallmouth bass fishing near the dam, Pam Warr of Keystone Bait and Tackle in Shelocta said. The angler was using fatheads and shiners.
• Lower Hereford Manor Lake was giving up trout to those using maggots, minnows and wax worms this week, said Wilma Strang of Wills Bait Shop in Zelienople. Bass have been hitting minnows and nightcrawlers.
• On the Monongahela, fishermen using fatheads on a jig were getting walleyes and smallmouth bass, said Danny Plants of Shadlure in West Elizabeth.
• At Erie, some rain overnight Tuesday made for good fishing conditions on Elk Creek, where anglers were getting steelhead on single eggs. On Walnut, peach sucker spawn, single eggs, rooster tails, and Little Cleos were producing catches. The various Mile streams were giving up some fish, too.

• A rifle shoot, running deer will be held Nov. 9 at the Burnt Ridge Bow and Gun Club, Cowansville.
• The Butler Outdoor Club will host its 14th annual dinner on Nov. 15 at the East Butler fire hall, 808 Grant Ave., East Butler. Silent auction will be held 5-7:30 p.m. Stuffed chicken breast dinner will be served at 7 p.m. There will be door prizes, 50/50 giveaway, and outdoor store, and club displays.
Event is open to the public. Katy and Mark Frey will make a presentation on their hike of the Appalachian Trail. Cost is $15 for adults and $6 for children younger than 6. For tickets, mail check with self-addressed stamped envelope to BOC c/o John Stehle, PO Box 243, Butler, PA 16003-0243.
