• The January meeting of the Ken Sink Chapter of Trout Unlimited will feature a special presentation by Pennsylvania fly fishing guide and author Mike Heck. Heck's presentation, "A Spring Creek Round-up," will cover some of Pennsylvania's famous limestone streams like the Little Juniata as well as some lesser known waters. Also included in the evening's program will be a fly tying demonstration of effective spring creek patterns and a signing of Heck's book, "Spring Creek Strategies." • The Western Allegheny Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society will hold its 19th annual sportsmen's banquet Feb. 5 at Four Points Sheraton in Greensburg. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a reception, with dinner at 7:30. The event will feature live and silent auctions, games, drawings, door prizes and more. Shoots on tap• The Sportsmen's Association of Greensburg hosts trap, skeet and sporting clays tower shoots from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays. The trap range has a ramp to accommodate special-needs shooters. The club also hosts skeet shoots from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Call 724-423-6350.
• Kingston Veterans and Sportsmen's Club, located just off Route 217 in Latrobe, will hold a 3-D archery shoot Jan. 17, with registration from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration will take place at the clubhouse. • Strictly Sticks Traditional Archers will hold a 3-D ham shoot Jan. 17 at East Huntingdon Sportsmen's Club in Alverton for those shooting recurves, longbows and stickbows. Hams will be awarded to the first and second place archers. A third ham will be awarded in a random drawing.
