NuRelm E-Business Software Inc. of Uniontown named Sami Shaaban president and chief executive officer; Keith T. Elliott chief technology officer and Mona Lyn McGraw, vice president of sales and marketing. Shaaban previously worked as a design engineer at IBM. He is a Syracuse University graduate. Elliott was an engineer for Anarko Petroleum Corp. McGraw was a project leader for IDX Systems Corp. The trio co-founded the company in Austin, Texas, in 1999. MANUFACTURING Daniel A. Mihalik was appointed tubular product manager and Brian P. Aiken was named outside sales representative for industrial tubular products at Koppel Steel Corp., Beaver Falls. Mihalik, who joined the company in 1992, most recently was manager of bar sales. Aiken joined Koppel in 1999 as an inside sales representative for SBQ products. Westinghouse Electric Co. appointed Daniel S. Lipman vice president, customer relations and sales, North America. Lipman, who will work from the company’s Monroeville headquarters, served as president, Westinghouse Electric Asia and before that worked in a number of key Westinghouse project management and site assignments in the United States. Allegheny Technologies Inc. named James C. Diggs, senior vice president and general counsel for PPG Industries Inc., to the company’s board of directors. He joined PPG in 1997 and before that had a 21-year career with TRW Inc., rising to vice president and assistant general counsel. BANKING/FINANCE Irwin Bank & Trust Co. promoted William C. Davies, Jay Gordon, Alan Lazar and Stacey Winfield to vice president/commercial loans; Debra S. Hopper to assistant vice president/human resources; and Thomas R. Stephenson Sr. to assistant vice president/loan review. Davies joined the bank in 1997, Gordon in 1998, Hopper in 1988, Lazar in 1989, Stephenson in 1996 and Winfield in 1997. National City Bank’s Private Client Group hired Roger C. Wiegand Jr. as an account executive. He is a graduate of Lafayette College and the University of Pittsburgh. ACCOUNTING Horovitz, Rudoy & Roteman hired Heather M. Ryan and Beth R. Wintergreen in the firm’s assurance services team. Both hold accounting degrees, Ryan from John Carroll University and Wintergreen from Elizabethtown College. The Pittsburgh office of Deloitte & Touche named Lora Franz firm director in the management solutions and services practice; appointed Lisa Jepsen-Lozano director of business development for the global strategic clients program; and named Loretta Ayers and David Demas partners. Franz has been with the Pittsburgh office since 1998 and has more than nine years’ professional services experience. Jepsen-Lozano has more than 22 years marketing experience, 17 with Deloitte & Touche. Ayers has been with the firm 12 years and has led the Charleston, W.Va., office since 1998. Demas has been with the company’s accounting and assurance practice since 1992. LEGAL David A. Miller joined Raphael, Ramsden & Behers as an associate. Miller had a general practice in the Mon Valley since 1989 and holds degrees from George Mason University and the University of Virginia School of Law. District Justice James E. Russo of Leetsdale was elected president judge of the Pennsylvania Court of Judicial Discipline. The court hears and decides charges filed against any judicial officer by the Judicial Conduct Board and has authority to impose sanctions from a reprimand to removal from office. Russo, who has been a district justice since 1975, oversees 11 municipalities in Allegheny County. Marcia L. Grimes joined Babst, Calland, Clements and Zomnir as a shareholder and Linda B. McClintock as an associate, both in the firm’s business services group. Grimes has experience in all aspects of real estate matters, and McClintock has experience in negotiation and documentation of commercial real estate sales and purchases, leases and loans. ADVERTISING/PUBLIC RELATIONS Sandra McVeigh was named vice president of Yearick-Millea. She was internship director, adjunct faculty and co-director of the business and professional communication curriculum at Duquesne University’s communications department. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree from Duquesne. Blattner Brunner Inc. named Meade Johnson director, client operations and promoted Ned Show to director, client services. Johnson, a 12-year employee, and Show had been vice presidents. Johnson most recently worked as team director. Show has been with Blattner Brunner five years TECHNOLOGY Joseph F. Lovett, a Boston area health care executive and venture capitalist specializing in the life sciences, was been elected to Demegen Inc.’s board of directors. Lovett, who served as a director of Watertown, Mass.-based Periodontix Inc., is president of Beacon Life Sciences and is a general partner of Medical Science Partners. He also held senior management positions with MDS Capital, Damon Biotech Inc., C.R. Bard, and Mallinckrodt Inc. Tollgrade Communications Inc. hired Holton Bond as principal systems engineer; Gary Culbertson as vice president of CATV marketing; and Richard Skaare as executive vice president of organizational development and communication. Bond has more than 25 years’ experience and comes to Tollgrade from Lucent Technologies. Culbertson was director of marketing for Acterna’s cable networks division. Skaare has worked with Tollgrade in the past as a consultant, a job at which he has 25 years’ experience. OTHER The Pittsburgh-based Bizet group promoted Celeste Calfe, a senior career consultant, to vice president, client development and Dan Stead, senior career consultant, to vice president, senior consultant. Sylvia Good, a human resource consultant, was hired as a career counselor and Tom Molnar joined Bizet as vice president of sales. Calfe joined Bizet in 1999 from Right Management Consultants, where she was vice president. Stead joined the company in 2000 after operating his own consulting firm, ViaSequent. John C. Hayward, a former Michael Baker Co. executive, was named the Pittsburgh Logistics Systems Associate Professor of Engineering at Robert Morris College. He joined Baker in 1974 and most recently was executive vice president for Baker’s transportation business unit. Before joining Baker, he was a research assistant at Penn State University. His post at the school is being funded by a grant from Pittsburgh Logistics System. Donna Cellante was appointed director of instructional technology at Robert Morris College. She has taught in the computer and information systems department at Robert Morris since 1983. She is also the school’s director of office information systems and business teacher education as well as coordinator of the business teacher education program.
