President Barack Obama follows through on a swing while golfing at Farm Neck Golf Club, in Oak Bluffs, Mass., on the island of Martha's Vineyard, Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014. Obama was vacationing on the island.
Those concerned about President Obama'sapparent obsession with golf can now monitor the time he spends on the links.

The website ObamaGolfCounter.com meticulously lists the rounds of golf the president has played since taking office in January 2009. As of last week, the number totaled 192.

Obama recently was roundly criticized for heading to the golf course immediately after speaking about the grisly beheading of journalist James Foley at the hands of ISIS militants. Among the critics: liberal columnistMaureen Dowd of The New York Times, who began a column lampooning the president by riffing on the Gettysburg Address: “Fore! Score? And seven trillion rounds ago … .”

That had to have amused the 30 percent of respondents to a recent YouGov.com poll who believe Obama golfs too much.

N. KOREA INSULTS KERRY'S LOOKS. There goes Kim Jong Un'schance of ever being invited to Teresa Heinz'sFox Chapel estate.

Via a spokesman, the North Korean leader recently referred to Heinz's husband, Secretary of State John Kerry, as a wolf “with a hideous lantern jaw.” That description, reported by ABC News, came in a critique of Kerry comments on North Korea's human rights record and weapons program.

Could have been worse. Earlier this year, the North Korean government called President Obama a monkey and labeled South Korean President ParkGeun-hye a prostitute.

Still, Kim likely won't ever be asked to any black-tie affairs at the Heinz house. If he ever makes it to the U.S., he'll just have to bunk with good buddy Dennis Rodman.

BIKE LANE PAIN. Confusion reigned last week in Pittsburgh's Oakland section as motorists attempted to figure out the new bike lane recently installed in Schenley Park.

City officials removed all parking on Schenley Drive opposite the Carnegie Library and replaced it with a bike lane extending across the bridge, while relocating formerly curbside parking near Phipps Conservatory to a new lane between the bike lane and traffic lane.

The result?

According to one of Whispers' trusted occasional contributors, cars were parked everywhere. Some people deduced that they were supposed to park in the parking lane, which had yet to be labeled, while others parked in the bike lane and received tickets.

MONTEL VS. MEDIA. Former tabloid-TV talk host Montel Williams took the time out of his busy celebrity schedule last week to send a tweet criticizing Western Pennsylvania media covering the return to school of students in Franklin Regional School District after last spring's stabbing tragedy.

“I have to apologize to you guys that so many in my business behaved so badly this morning. Remember, your challenge this year is to never forget BUT always move the ball forward toward building the school, the community you want. Ignore the media, they will eventually go away,” Williams tweeted.

Williams, whose TV show used to feature mothers confronting their children's alleged fathers with the results of paternity tests, described media misconduct regarding Franklin Regional as “shameless” exploitation.
