Pittsburgh Mayor Bob O'Connor left UPMC Shadyside hospital on Saturday after undergoing two days of treatment for a duodenal ulcer and a virus.

O'Connor, 61, was resting at his Squirrel Hill home and expected to attend baseball's All-Star Game and Home Run Derby this week, according to his spokesman, Dick Skrinjar.

"The doctor's orders are rest and relaxation, taking care of himself and not keeping a full schedule on the sixth and seventh days" of the week, Skrinjar said.

O'Connor checked himself in to the hospital on Thursday after experiencing body aches and a sore throat for several days. His personal physician checked on him Friday, when the ulcer was discovered.

Skrinjar said the ulcer was not cancerous or bleeding and will be treated with a combination of medicine and a modification of O'Connor's diet and schedule.
