KISKI — Three Kiski Township residents were hospitalized yesterday after becoming violently ill for unknown reasons, fire officials said.

Emergency crews were dispatched to a residence at 1579 Upper Mateer Road at 5:34 p.m. Monday for a report of a 50-year-old woman and a 2-year-old child who had become ill, said Kiski Township Fire Department Chief Rich Frain.

Both the woman and child were flown by medical helicopter to Pittsburgh hospitals as a result, Frain said. Their identities and conditions were not known Monday night.

Frain said emergency crews were called to a residence at 324 Adair Road at 7:20 p.m. for a male with similar symptoms.

The male was transported by ambulance to Latrobe Hospital.

“We checked both homes several times to determine what might have caused the illnesses,” he said. “At this time, we have ruled out carbon monoxide and several other airborne contaminants.”

Frain said both incidents seem to be unrelated and coincidental.

“The only thing anyone can do now is wait until they are checked out by the doctors to see what might have caused them to become so sick,” Frain said.

Crews from Kiski Township Fire Department assisted Oklahoma Ambulance Service crews and Kiski Township Police.
