Two Oklahoma-based companies face a consumer protection lawsuit, after consumers enrolled on the Pennsylvania Do Not Call list reported getting solicitation calls, state officials say.

The attorney general’s office said on Wednesday it filed a complaint in Commonwealth Court against United American Technology Inc. of Oklahoma City and the National Campaign for Moral Values Fund of Jones, Okla.

The lawsuit claims the companies tried to get around restrictions of the Telemarketer Registration Act by having the nonprofit NCMVF make calls to warn about the dangers of Internet pornography and child predators, while the real purpose of the calls was to sell the services of UAT, a for-profit telecommunications company.
