Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato plans to visit Braddock Wednesday to discuss what to do about the town’s closing hospital.
Onorato announced a public meeting — set for Wednesday, 6 p.m. at the Braddock Carnegie Library — to discuss the closing of UPMC Braddock. The meeting will be open to residents, and Onorato wants this to be their chance to channel their frustrations into discussions about a viable response strategy.
County leaders are continuing their effort to keep the hospital open, Onorato said today.
UPMC officials plan to close the hospital Jan. 31 in part, they have said, because of low occupancy numbers, but are willing to donate the facility to any other group that would run it.
